Why vote for me?
Having served on the Board of the San Antonio Bar Association since 2019, and as past Secretary and current Treasurer, it has been my privilege to work on behalf of the Bar Association and its members. Over the past few years, I have had an opportunity to work together with Bexar County’s Statutory Probate Judges and staff in an effort to secure additional funding from the Bexar County Commissioners Court for much needed additional staff for Bexar County’s two Statutory Probate Courts. Most recently, and with the assistance of the same Statutory Probate Judges, Associate Judges and Staff Attorneys for Bexar County’s Statutory Probate Courts, I have endeavored to seek the establishment of a third Statutory Probate Court for Bexar County. Although much work remains before a third court is created, these efforts have brought to light the Bar Association’s ability to help its membership and the local judiciary to bring to fruition changes, advancements and improvements that benefit not only those that practice before the courts in Bexar County, but also the citizens of Bexar County. As the President-Elect, I intend to continue to seek out these opportunities where the Bar Association can be an advocate and strong supporter of such endeavors.

Why vote for me?
I was born and raised in San Antonio, and have practiced law here since the start of my career. This community is important to me. My family and friends live here. I hope that my record of involvement with various organizations in this community, and in particular, in the San Antonio legal community, reflects the way I feel about San Antonio and our local bar. I have proudly served SABA as a director and more recently, Secretary, for a total of five years. If elected Treasurer, I am confident I will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the Board. Serving as an active member of several Boards, including, SABA, SAYLA and TYLA over the last several years have given me thorough knowledge and understanding of the operations of several bar associations. My involvement in SABA, in particular, gives me familiarity with the organization and how it runs. I have proudly served five years on the Board and I hope to continue to contribute to the Association and Foundation for many years to come. Thank you for your consideration.

The SABA directors also serve as stewards of the San Antonio Bar Foundation. The foundation’s endowment is overdue for a capital campaign, to ensure that it can sustain the foundation’s mission well into the future. I would like to contribute to the board with my experience representing and advising similar entities through similar processes. The endowment is a primary means of sustaining the foundation’s mission and programming.
Additionally, as the SABA offices transition to their new space, the directors will have a unique responsibility to see that the new space meets the needs of SABA members.

Why should you vote for me?
Hello? Because I am awesome! All kidding aside . . . as a Latina, I have always appreciated seeing someone that looks like me in leadership roles. But it was not until I had the opportunity to attend an Anti-Racism Advocacy Panel seminar recently that I saw a different viewpoint--it is just as important for persons that do not look like me to see, and work alongside, hard-working people of color, and other minority groups, in those leadership positions. We can all grow and learn from each other’s experiences and backgrounds. Additionally, the volunteer experiences I have enjoyed the most are those that give me the opportunity to motivate young people to accomplish what I have and more. If serving in this role motivates a new lawyer or colleague to run for a position or to participate on a board then I know I am contributing to the growth of our legal community in an important and necessary way. I hope you will allow me to do so. And if not, I am hopeful that the fact that some are seeing me on this list at all will push them to put their names out there in the future.

Why should you vote for me?
Dear Colleagues, First, Thank you for your work—day in and day out—and for your time as you consider the leadership for our San Antonio Bar. Second, I respectfully request your vote because I can bring a wide range of professional and personal experience to help San Antonio lawyers succeed and thrive. 25 + years of my experience include • large firm litigation practice, • serving cities’ litigation and labor negotiation needs across Texas in a boutique law firm and, now, • serving in a leadership capacity in-house for our community with the City of San Antonio. I am truly grateful for these opportunities. Born and raised in a small copper-mining town, I grew up watching hard work by women and men around me wearing steel-toe boots and hard hats. I was inspired by the discipline that drove my grandparents to get up in the morning, work over-time shifts, and come home in ore-dusted boots and jeans—a work ethic driven by gratitude for the opportunity, love of family and commitment. That work ethic translated in my generation to less labor-intensive careers but with no less determination. Through my experiences, highs and lows, I understand a lawyer’s needs evolve. Personal and professional responsibilities and priorities change over the arc of a career. As an integrated member of a 13,000 City Team, I actively seek out ways to support and develop those around me, lawyers and non-lawyers, to meet those needs. Meeting people where they are and addressing their needs leads to great outcomes for the community. I listen well and thoughtfully explore options for paths forward. Then, I work hard so that we can collectively make it happen. I wish to bring this same ethic, enthusiasm, and support to earn your vote and earn the opportunity to work hard to advocate for your SABA needs—wherever you are in the arc of your career. If you have questions, I am happy to answer them (210-887-8222). Thank you for your consideration and for all you do. Respectfully, Liz Provencio

I have been a long-standing member of the San Antonio Bar Association and was previously on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association (SAYLA) for several years.
