Law Week in San Antonio was filled with engaging events aimed at promoting legal education and civic participation.
The highlight was the Law Day Luncheon held at the Witte Museum, where election scholar, Professor Joshua Sellers from UT-Austin School of Law delivered an insightful talk on the evolution of US elections. He discussed the impact of primary elections, small donation platforms, and gerrymandering on candidate independence and emphasized the role of attorneys in advocating for electoral reforms like ranked voting and managing programs for civic engagement with our school-aged citizens.
Additionally, the week saw initiatives such as the Legal Beagle reading reaching over 600 elementary students, the distribution of pocket constitutions to 2000 jurors, and the sharing of Fiesta medals with civic leaders and fairgoers at our King William Fair information booth. Planning will start soon for next year's celebration. Email events@sabar.org to join the Law Week planning committee. We want to participate in the King William Parade 2025!
