Why vote for me?
The Treasurer of the San Antonio Bar Association is a position of high trust and confidence.  I am honored to be asked to run for this position, especially since, if elected, I would follow in the footsteps of recent Treasurers like Ty Sheehan, Dave Evans and Tom Crosley.  As a member of the Board, I’m well aware of the fiduciary responsibilities of this position, and I understand the commitment of time and effort to keep the financial ship afloat. Given my previous five years as a member of the Board of SABA, I believe I am best suited for the position of Treasurer because I have a good understanding of the operations of SABA and knowledge of exactly how the financial pieces fit together.  If elected, I will commit to following in the footsteps of those who preceded me, and will be honored to have the trust of the members of SABA.

Why vote for me?
As the namesake of an attorney who has practiced in San Antonio for nearly 40 years, it is entirely possible that you may accidentally vote for me, thinking that you are voting for my dad. I am not so naïve to believe that this would be the first time I have benefited from the name and respect that my dad has earned during his career. However, aside from being my dad’s son, I hope that you vote for me because I understand that, like our city is the smallest big town (or biggest small town) in America, our bar has a unique familial quality. While zealously representing our clients, our members manage to treat their colleagues with respect and professionalism. Our members understand that how we conduct ourselves is likely the only interaction with the justice system our clients will experience firsthand, and consequently integrity and honor are fundamental to the rule of law. If elected, I will work to preserve this unique quality in our bar so that one day I can pass it on intact to my kids.

Why vote for me?
I was born and raised in San Antonio, and have practiced law here since the start of my career, and San Antonio is where I’ll stay. This community is important to me. My family and friends live here. I hope that my record of involvement with various organizations in this community, and in particular in the San Antonio legal community, reflect the way I feel about San Antonio and our local bar. If re-elected Director, I’m confident I will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the Board. Serving as an active member of several  Boards, including, SABA, SAYLA and TYLA over the last several years has given me thorough knowledge and understanding of the operations of several bar associations. My involvement in SABA, in particular, gives me familiarity with the organization and how it runs. I have enjoyed my first term on the board and I hope to continue to contribute to the Association and Foundation for many years to come. Thank you for your consideration.

Why vote for me?
Historically, prosecutors’ involvement with SABA has been low.  I would like to see this change.  I hope to help bridge a connection between the District Attorney’s Office and SABA.  I want to help prosecutors see the benefits SABA can provide them by way of training and networking opportunities.   Prosecutors can also bring benefits to SABA by providing unique knowledge and perspective of criminal law and also a depth of jury trial experience.  Thank you for considering me for the SABA Board of Directors.

Why vote for me?
I have been a long-standing member of the San Antonio Bar Association and was previously on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association (SAYLA) for several years. Through my participation in these organizations along with serving on the Steering Committee of the State Bar of Texas Minority Counsel Program, I was able to increase participation and opportunities for various members of the State Bar in various legal organizations. I believe that my past leadership experience will allow me to further the mission of SABA and advocate for SABA.

San Antonio is one of the fastest growing areas in Texas, and I believe that my active involvement in the San Antonio legal community will give me the ability to be an asset to the SABA Board and help increase participation in the program.
I have a strong interest in furthering the interests of the San Antonio Bar Association and the creation of new opportunities and networking for our local members. I take the opportunity to serve SABA as a board member very seriously, and if elected, I will strive to help increase participation, foster relationships among our members, and increase networking opportunities for the membership.
