The State Bar of Texas election opens, April 1.  Please check your inbox for your SBOT ballot to vote for leadership and proposed changes to the disciplinary rules.

Sara Murray & Gilbert Vara Jr. were recognized at SABA's Annual Meeting & Past President's Reception as the recipients of the President's Award

The Hon. Rebecca Simmons is the 2024-25 section Chair of the SBOT Litigation Section and Lara Brock joins leadership as a Council Member.

Judge Simmons was the 2013-14 SABA president and previously chaired the SBOT Judicial Committee on Information Technology. Ms. Brock currently serves as President of the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association and is the Vice President of Communications for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Lori Massey Brissette to the Fourth Court of Appeals, Place 3. Justice Brissette has worked as a mediator, arbitrator, and private judge for civil, commercial, and family law disputes and previously served as judge of the 288th District Court in Bexar County.

Doma Title Insurance, Inc. has appointed Christina Blum as Vice President, Regional Underwriting Counsel for the states of Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. In this position, Blum will support independent agents throughout the tri-state area, as well as Doma Enterprise and Lennar Title in Texas. 

Laura Tamez, Immediate past president of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association was presented the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Minority Caucus Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr Soaring Eagle Award at the AAJ Annual Conference in July.
