Archdiocese of San Antonio Blesses Legal Community
With an imminent storm pending, representatives from legal organizations all over San Antonio, the Judiciary and State Legislature lined up outside of San Fernando Cathedral to carry their organization's banner for St. Mary's University School of Law's Red Mass.
Dating back to 1245, Red Mass is a world-wide Catholic Tradition held annually to request God's blessing and guidance on the administration of justice. In 1952, St. Mary's University School of Law and the Catholic Lawyers Guild of San Antonio revived Red Mass, and each year the Archdiocese of San Antonio welcomes the legal community for a homily.
This year's procession lined up at 5:45 p.m. inside the Cathedral gates just as a light rain began to mist, and by 6:00 p.m. the famous presentation of banners began. Incoming San Antonio Bar Association President Dave Evans proudly carried SABA's banner and displayed it by the alter. Several SABA members and law students were in attendance for the mass including Eric Michael Garza and Billy Calve of Norton, Rose, Fullbright, and Jarryd S. Morton of Crosley Law Firm, P.C.
Here's to a blessed 2020!
