Effective immediately all pre-indictment documents are to be filed in the Criminal Filing Department, Paul Elizondo Tower Suite 209. From here, the documents will be sent to the City if a City Magistrate magistrated the defendant at booking, or to the assigned District Court if a County Magistrate magistrated the defendant at booking, or if the assigned District Court Judge has requested pre-indictment filings remain in their District Court. Signed orders from the City will be entered as soon as they are received via inter-office mail. While this change in procedure will add additional workload to the Criminal Filing Department, it is the best solution to ensure that all motions are sent to the proper location to be reviewed and acted upon.
