Attorney volunteers and law interns had their hands full at the June 14 CJP Veterans Clinic with what turned out to be an overwhelming turnout from local veterans. Volunteers from USAA and St. Mary’s Law School were instrumental in the June clinic’s success, and CJP would like to extend a huge thank you to them for their continued support.
CJP Managing Attorney Sharon Thomas said, “There is definitely a need for legal services to be provided to the underserved populations of our community. San Antonio attorneys are more than willing to meet the need and provide pro bono legal services.” Attorneys, paralegals, notaries and law students help veterans and/or lower-income members of the community by volunteering at either the monthly Veterans Clinic or the quarterly Wills Clinic.
The next Veterans Clinic, in which volunteers offer veterans and their family members legal advice on a variety of civil law issues, will be held at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Affairs Hospital on July 12. CJP encourages attorneys from all practice areas to volunteer. To volunteer, please call 210-227-8822. Thomas adds, "I am honored that I get to work with such a great community. I look forward to expanding our reach with our growing corps of volunteer lawyers.”
