SABA had a substantial presence at the SBOT Annual Meeting including many rowdy tables of San Antonio friends supporting Gerry Goldstein as a recipient of the Texas Bar Foundation Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award.
Dan Rather delivered an eloquent, inspirational keynote speech at this year’s State Bar of Texas (SBOT) Annual Meeting in Austin, saying, “The threats to a free press and an independent judiciary are real.” Calling on the SBOT, he said, “Our country needs you and your dedication to defend its highest ideals such as the rule of law, equal justice under the law and that no individual is above the law.” SABA President Santos Vargas announced award winners in his role as the Chair of the SBOT Local Bar Services Committee shortly after he was installed as a new SBOT Director. San Antonio was represented the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association winning best Newsletter and the SA Young Lawyers Association and the SA LGBT Bar Association winning best project for “Will You Marry Me”. SABA’s official magazine, theSan Antonio Lawyerwon four awards for multiple articles.
