The State Bar of Texas announced its Stars of Texas Bars Awards winners last month and the San Antonio legal community was recognized for several different awards. The San Antonio LGBT Bar, in partnership with the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, received the Stars of Texas Bars Award for Outstanding Partnership 2019 for their Will You Marry Me project. The award—the first award in any category for an LGBT bar association in Texas—is a recognition of bar associations that have worked together with community organizations to help provide legal services to the community. The project was a unique take on legal services and highlighted an aspect of the judicial system that, like their project, brings people together to build a stronger community.

San Antonio Lawyer, SABA’s official publication, took home four awards. Editor-in-Chief Sara Murray has literally set the bar high for other legal publications with distinction, quality and tireless efforts that have become a standard at SAL throughout her tenure, and for that, we are grateful. Congratulations to Sara and to the writers and editors who worked on the winning articles.

Series of Articles – Feature/General Interest: “The Psychology of Client Management: What to Do When Clients Do Not Follow Your Advice” and “The Psychology of Legal Persuasion,” both by Harry L. Munsinger, and “The Psychology of Mediation: The Role of Cognitive and Emotional Factors” by Harry L. Munsinger and Don Philbin

SBOT award winners will be recognized at the SBOT Annual Meeting during the Bar Leaders Recognition Luncheon in Austin on June 13.
