Judge Glenn & Felony Court Drug Team Honored

Judge Ernie Glenn and the team of the Bexar County Felony Drug Court were awarded the 2020 Judge Ruben G. Reyes Outstanding Specialty Court Team Award for, “Effective Teamwork & Utilizing Best Practice Standards to Save Souls” from the Texas Association of Specialty Courts (TASC).  Judge Reyes epitomizes the idea that good intentions are not enough, that best practice standards save lives and souls.   Judge Glenn and his team were recognized for their passionate commitment to developing team expertise to help program participants succeed and for growing the program to expand outreach.

The Felony Drug Court program provides intensive supervision and treatment interventions to high-risk drug-abusing offenders who show a genuine desire to break the cycle of addiction. Participation in the program is voluntary and graduation from the program typically averages 18-24 months for felony offenders and 12-18 months for misdemeanor offenders.

Judge Glenn started in 2007 with a coordinator, four probation officers, and a case load of up to 90 individuals. The court now has five case managers, a court manager, and an assistant court manager/data tracker working with four probation officers to handle the case load of 250.   The program includes a Co-Occurring Diagnosis Court, Reentry Court and a DWI Court to meet the specialized needs of the different populations.

Congratulations to Judge Glenn and the dedicated members of the Felony Drug Court team!
